Apps and online forms for families
Callaghan College uses Sentral, School Bytes and Canvas to communicate with families.

SMS Absences: Text parent name, student name, and reason to 0429 55 01 88.
Sentral Parents
For student attendance matters, booking parent and teacher interviews and accessing academic reports.
Log-in to the Sentral portal or:
- Download Sentral on Google Play
- Download Sentral on the Apple Store
Process to access Sentral Parent Portal
- When registering please use your email address as your username.
- Apply for Parent Portal account - Register for the parent portal
- If using the app, search for Sentral Parent and install on your smartphone.
- You will be sent a key within 24 hours (during school terms) to connect your child (this is not your password – you set your password when created your account).
- Connect your child using the key sent to you.
School Bytes
For making payments, viewing financial records and giving parental consent for school events.
Log-in to the School Bytes portal or:

How to set up your parent portal account – School Bytes
For making payments, viewing financial records and giving parental consent for school events.
The School Bytes portal provides flexibility for you to:
- Make school payments online (including paying for multiple siblings at once)
- Use a family credit to pay for an activity or school contributions
- Download a receipt for payments made
- View all historical payments in one place
- Complete and submit digital permission notes
- View the status of all permission notes
Online payments are processed in real-time and can be viewed by school staff immediately.
While our preference is for payments to be made via the portal, we will still accept payment via cash and EFTPOS at the school office.
Canvas Observer/Parent
For tracking your child’s learning progress, including classwork, assessment tasks, and teacher feedback. You can also use Canvas to communicate with your child’s teachers.
Log-in to the Canvas portal or:
- Download Canvas on Google Play
- Download Canvas on the Apple Store
Process to access Canvas Observer/Parent
We use the Canvas learning management system for all students to be able to access their learning, resources, assessments and calendars.
Parents/carers are welcome to observe their own student(s) by using the Canvas app and website.
Parents/carers can access their observer account either by the Canvas Portal or the Canvas Parent app.
Access via the Canvas Portal:
- Register on the Canvas portal
- Students will firstly need to create a pairing code via their settings on their own Canvas login. This code can be found by clicking their picture in the global navigation bar, choose settings and on the right-hand side of the page click 'pair with observer'.
Access via the Canvas App:
- Download Canvas Parent on your smartphone from the App Store or Google Play
- Search for Callaghan College (Parents)
- Create an account (You may already have an account - click forgot password if you do)
- Students will firstly need to create a pairing code via their settings on their own Canvas login. This code can be found by clicking their picture in the global navigation bar, choose settings and on the right-hand side of the page click 'pair with observer'.
- Add pairing code.
Campus forms
A Change of Elective/Curious Creations form must be submitted in the following instances:
A student wishes to change their electives - please select the correct year - parents/caregivers must sign.
An illness/misadventure form must be submitted in the following instances:
A student is unexpectedly and genuinely absent in the lead up to or on the due date of an assessment task
In the case of a genuine absence, the completed and signed form must be submitted within 5 school days (or on return to school).
- BYOD - Bring Your Own Device permission note - enables students to bring a laptop or tablet to school.
CCWC recommends a device which your child is most comfortable using, as long as it connects to the DoE network you are able to use it.
