Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students develop their thinking, communication, and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. Our students have earned a stellar reputation, proudly securing a recent state debating title and multiple consecutive regional wins for our public speakers, as well as for our Stage 4 and Stage 5 debating teams.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music, and art programs encourage students to be creative and express themselves. Students have opportunities to perform at local nursing homes, community events, and regional festivals like StarStruck and the Hunter Dance Festival, as well as at our own annual Callaghan Showcase.
Trips and excursions
Our teachers work hard to create opportunities that inspire our students. Whether it’s camps, excursions to the Hunter Wetlands, the Goethe Institute, or the Maitland Gallery, students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn, and see how their education connects to the world around them.
Student leadership opportunities
We take great pride in our vibrant student voice and leadership program. Students have valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills and actively contribute to decision-making through roles such as SRC, peer support leaders, school captains and prefects, Aboriginal and EALD leadership teams, house captains, and Junior AECG members.
