Learning
At our senior campus, we teach the NSW curriculum and offer more than 50 HSC subjects and VET courses to support each student’s personal learning pathway.
Our teachers are expert in delivering senior subject lessons and regularly attend professional learning to remain up to date on HSC curriculum requirements.
What students learn
As a dedicated senior learning campus, Jesmond students have the opportunity to learn from one of the widest choices in the NSW curriculum across the Hunter. This empowers students to choose subjects that really align with their future pathways: helping them build skills, think creatively and prepare for life beyond school.
An understanding of the English language is central to how we communicate and is essential for intellectual, social and emotional development - and this is why English is a subject requirement for all HSC students.
The study of English develops skills to enable students to experiment with ideas and expression, to become active, independent, and lifelong learners, to work with each other and to reflect on their learning. It will also provide a foundation skill for all your other senior subjects.
Our English faculty are passionate about the importance of communication skills for everyone, regardless of their career choice and as a vital part of our everyday personal lives.

By studying mathematics, students develop knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical concepts and their use within the classroom and beyond.
Mathematics is a vital foundation in the development of knowledge in many other areas of learning, particular in STEM. To attain mastery in many professions and careers, a strong background in mathematics is essential. From a societal perspective, having a good grasp of maths is also important for everyday living skills.
Choosing a mathematics subject provides students with a sound foundation for students’ future choices in tertiary education as well as everyday life.
